weight loss quoteAre you tired of the latest “diet” fad?  Ready for a Back to Basics Weight Loss Plan?  Where no food is off limits and everything is available wherever you shop for groceries.

If you are what you eat, shouldn’t what you eat be a be priority?

Women and men have unique hormone issues that can play havoc on our bodies and minds as we hit our 40’s.  From weight gain, mood swings, hair loss, excess hair, fatigue and general blah; our hormones may be the main culprit.

There is Hope!

The food we eat can keep all of those hormones balanced, so that we can fully enjoy our 40’s and beyond.  Hormones are more than just estrogen and testosterone.  In fact, there are about 50 different hormones (insulin, cortisol, melatonin, thyroid etc.) that keep our bodies functioning.  Each have their own job, but they all need to work together or things get out of whack.

Hormones are more than just estrogen and testosterone.

Think of it this way.  When we were kids and played Dodgeball everyone had to work together.  If one person got hit by a ball they had to sit out and the teams were uneven.

Another example from childhood:  Telephone.  Do you remember how easy it was for the message to change?

SOOO, what do these childhood games have to do with weight gain, mood swings, fatigue and hair loss/growth etc.?

When our hormones are not balanced, they get confused.

For example, you go out to dinner with your friends have a heavy meal, maybe a few drinks, then go home and straight to bed because you have to be up early and get the kids ready for school and/or get yourself to work.  You didn’t have time to wind down and relax before you went to sleep and probably  didn’t slept very well either.  This just caused a communication problem between melatonin and cortisol.

A normal everyday thing that you wouldn’t think of as a big deal, but it can be a huge deal if it is a part of your normal routine.

This can lead to things like adult acne, weight gain, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and Hashimotos.

By going BACK TO BASICS it is possible to feed your body the right foods and make weight loss enjoyable instead of feeling deprived.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • It’s 5 o’clock and you forgot to take out the chicken for dinner.  “Drive thru, delivery or take-out?”
  • “I couldn’t sleep last night, and I’m dragging my ass.”  Monster, Rockstar, Redbull or coffee?
  • “I’m on holidays, it doesn’t count.”  All you can eat buffets and bottomless drinks
  • Complimentary hotel breakfast   Plate full of an assortment of  bagels, muffins, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and maybe some fruit
  • “Glad that day is finally over!”   Reach for comfort foods
  • Nothing fits right!”  Shopping at what used to be your favourite store

There is no judgement here.  Hell, I’m guilty of it all too.  Life happens.

It’s all about what you want your life to look like from now on.

Do you want to be able to like shopping again, enjoying holidays without beating yourself up when you get home because you over indulged, sleeping like a baby and most importantly loving yourself inside and out?

IF you said “Hell Yes” to any of those, you are in the right place.  I was there and know what you are going through.

This is my transformation.   2016 (top left) to 2018 (bottom).  This is what eating the right type of foods can do for you.  I am not consistent with exercising and I love to eat.  Bread, cheese and chocolate are still on my plate.

I went back to the basics of weight loss and made small daily changes to my eating habits to balance the hormones.  These are the results.  Less belly fat, more muscle tone and more energy.
